I began my healthy adventures in 1972 traveling all over the world by bike. Today I am 69 years old and still going strong. It is never to late to live a healthy active life and be your own healthy adventurer.
Biking across Australia South to North
Wallabies are a little smaller than their cousins the kangaroos. They were grazing all over the campground. Though it was still raining, a class of school kids had fun roasting marshmallows next to my tent. I joined several campers that had congregated in a gazebo while the rain drummed on the roof. All sorts of languages could be heard. Is it maybe that the first years of my life were impacted by war around me that I delight so much to experience peace among people? I wondered whether at some deeper level I seek this peace experience on my rides around the world.
I was the first in the morning to rent a kayak they call “canoe” here. Kiddingly I suggested a “senior biker’s” discount. To my surprise the rate was dropped from $38-13 for me.
These were tricky little boats. Short as they were, with each paddle stroke they tended to sway from one direction to the other. Being used to kayaks, I soon got my bearings as I paddled upstream on the Katherine River. This was crocodile habitat. Would I see any? There were signs posted not to enter the beach. Suddenly something huge snapped out of the water. It happened so fast and was too far away to determine what it was.
Peace, joy and health,
