Something Fishy About Fish Oils!

For decades we have all been convinced that high doses of omega-3 fats (fish and flax oil) are good for us. They are supposed to protect us from heart disease, inflammation, cancer and cognitive decline. A growing body of evidence seems to prove otherwise. A new comprehensive study indicates that, as far as the cancer protection is concerned, this may all be a myth.

In 2006, The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) published a study that concluded “A large body of evidence, spanning numerous groups from many countries and with different demographic characteristics does not provide evidence to suggest any significant association between omega-3 fatty acids and the incidence of cancer. Dietary supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids is unlikely to prevent cancer.”

We have all been told that fish oil is good for your health. This has now been proven wrong because it’s based on incomplete and flawed science. Fish oil consists only of an inferior and potentially harmful form of Omega-3’s called “derivatives.” Omega-3 derivatives are NOT essential fatty acids.

There are two Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) that must be ingested each day–Omega-6 and Omega-3. The Parent form of these EFAs cannot be manufactured by your body. Most supplement manufacturers and most nutritionists do not understand the importance of consuming these “Parent” EFAs.

A very interesting fact: of the five longest lived societies on the planet, none of them are on an ocean shore and none of them consume fish!

The prime cause of cancer has little to do with the current “anti-cancer” recommendations, such as eating more fruits and vegetables, denying meat, increasing exercise and so-called “healthy eating.” Neither is the prime cause of cancer genetic. The prime cause of cancer was proven over 80 years ago to be abnormal transport of oxygen across the cell membrane. The cell membrane is made up mainly of three layers of fats (lipids). The inner and outer layers are made of omega-6 EFAs and the middle layer is made of omega-3s. That is why these oils must be consumed in a 2:1 ratio, on a daily basis.

Improper maintenance of healthy cell membranes causes improper oxygen transport into the cell, which at a certain point, causes it to switch to an abnormal way of burning sugar called anaerobic metabolism. This is the main form of energy production in cancer cells. This fact was proven in conventional research in the 1920s, and then pretty much ignored by conventional oncology since then.

While fish oil has many advocates, real life clinical results prove that fish (and flax) oil DOES NOT prevent heart attacks or cancer. Only the proper combination of Parent Omega-6 and Omega-3 EFAs can do that.

What to do? The quick answer is Hemp oil. It is the only single oil on the market that provides close to the ideal ratio of 6s to 3s. However, studies have not been done on it. Studies do show that a combination of oils provide the ideal combination…more info on that next month.
