Lypossage: the All-Natural Alternative to Liposuction

300-lypossageby Kaleigh Richards, LMT |

What is cellulite anyway? The fatty tissue of the body acts as a ‘toxic waste disposal site,’ where substances are dumped that the body cannot metabolize. The lymphatic system is responsible for eliminating this waste through sweat, urine, etc. The cellulite layer is a physiological layer that is supposed to be there. The extent to which it is visible is affected by several variables such as genetics, dietary and exercise habits, as well as hormones.

Lypossage is an all natural body contouring treatment that will help reshape your figure without invasive surgery. The treatment is a specific blend of massage modalities that derive from physical therapy, including lymphatic drainage and deep tissue release.  Charles W. Wiltsie III, a nationally recognized massage therapy educator and practitioner, created Lypossage. Mr. Wiltsie conducted a year-long study of 100 female subjects to determine the effectiveness of the treatment. Published in 1999, notable results included an average inch loss of one to one and a half inches per thigh, and a cumulative average loss of almost seven inches.

Lypossage cleanses the body of stagnant, stalled lymphatic fluid. The deeper Lypossage strokes can break up adhesions under the skin that can contribute to the appearance of cellulite. It also can tone the muscles, lifting and firming sagging tissue.

There are three zones that Lypossage focuses on. Zone 1 focuses on the lower body from the twelfth rib to the knee. Zone 2 focuses on the upper body from the twelfth rib to the neck, including the décolleté. Zone 3 focuses on the head, neck and face; acting as a natural facelift.

While there are some contraindications for specific medical conditions, Lypossage can be safely performed on most healthy individuals who are no more than 70 pounds overweight. Lypossage is a safer option to surgical procedures.  While there are no restrictions or certifications needed to operate body contouring machines, Lypossage can only be performed by a trained massage therapist.
