February is a special month, with one of my favorite holidays: Valentine’s Day! I remember spending a lot of Valentine’s Days with my dad. Even though I’m older now, he still sends me candies and a small gift each year. I also like the idea of spending time with my loved ones, but this year is going to be a little different…a Valentine’s Day with 7th grade drama!
With best friends changing 24/7 and back-stabbing, arguing drama…add in 7th grade relationships and it becomes a mess. With spring around the corner, new relationships seem to blossom or shrivel, every week. I have already witnessed several relationships begin and end, and then the same people end up in a new relationship two days later. Both the girls and guys make a big deal out of it. As if their world is crumbling around them. A lot of them are not going to celebrate Valentine’s Day because of it. To me, it doesn’t make sense. We’re only in 7th grade. Just because someone breaks up with you, it’s not the end of the world.
With my school dance coming up, it’s getting even crazier. But even with new date jealousy, break-ups and general drama, my friends are still planning on going to the dance, with or without a date. Which is my point exactly, who needs a date? We don’t need a guy (or girl) to go to some dance. My friends and I will go as best friends and that sounds great to me!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
