As you know, it is July and a special holiday is coming up: the Fourth of July! I love this holiday because I get to see beautiful fireworks and spend time with my family. What do you do on the Fourth of July?
A few weeks before the Fourth of July, I fly to Minnesota to see my dad and his family. My dad and I go to Annandale, where my grandparents live. My dad’s sisters and their families also go to Annandale for the special weekend. On the day of the Fourth of July, everyone gets up early to see the big Annandale parade. It is so much fun. After that, we go back to my grandparents’ house and spend time outside playing games like horseshoes and volleyball. When it starts getting dark, we drive into Annandale and go to the carnival. My cousins and I go on the rides and play carnival games. Right before the fireworks begin, we spread out a blanket and set up folding chairs so that we can have a comfy place to sit. After the grand finale, we pack our things, making sure to pick up and dispose of our garbage, and head back to my grandparents’ home. We stay up late playing board games and cards; then it is off to bed.
