Feng Shui Facts & Fiction

Written By Rebecca Moore |

Are plants and animals in the home good feng shui? Yes, with some exceptions.

Live plants add qi to a home and improve the atmosphere. Plants can be used to attract, direct and block energy movement. There are some sectors of the home we avoid plants. Fake plastic plants are never a substitute for the real thing.

When considering the influence of large animals in the home, we look at square footage.

Two people living in a 4000 square foot house would benefit from a couple dogs. Conversely, two large dogs with a family of four living in a 2000 square foot house might create some conflict energy.

Litter boxes should be cleaned often and the waste disposed in the outside garbage. Never place a litter box in the kitchen. Pet waste accumulating outside can have a negative influence to the inhabitants inside.

A traditional feng shui master would tell you never let your animals sleep with you, but many people cannot shut the door on their pets. Animals have a different body energy vibration than we do and can influence our own.

Just like everything in our homes, plants and animals do have an influence.
